Yesterday at work a supervisor gave me my yearly performance evaluation, which ultimately tells you if you’re going to get a pay increase. This is my fifth year working for the company and lately my motivation and work ethic hasn’t really been up to par with my normal hard working self. I suppose it has to do with my supreme hatred for the company as a whole. Anyways, I was expecting the lowest pay increase you can get, which is considered a “Meets Expectations” but when she sat me down and told me all the things I need to improve on, I agreed with all but one. She told me whoever did my evaluation said I wasn’t a team player. I was offended because of all the people I’ve worked with, I am probably one of the biggest team players if not the biggest. I always offer to cover people’s breaks, do the jobs of other people, and offer to get cross trained in different areas so when they’re under staffed I can help. No one else I work with has offered to do ANY of those things. She said I need to set goals for myself and achieve them. Why? I don’t plan on staying with the company for more than two more years. I’ve learned almost practically everything I’m interested in, why should I set goals? She also said I need to work on my motivation. Yeah, so what? What do I have to be motivated about? I hate my job. I hate the people I work for. I hate our customers. I think of my job as intellectual homicide. I sometimes feel like I’m losing I.Q. points each time I clock in for work. Not all, but MOST of the people I work with are complete idiots and our customers are worse. The customers also treat you like you have some hideously contagious disease and are a complete waste of human life. I think I actually despise the human race more and more as I get older. It’s quite sad actually. After she told me all the things I need to improve on, she pretty much told me I “Didn’t Meet Expectations” and wasn’t getting a pay increase. I was pissed to say the least and couldn’t control myself. I first said “Are you serious?” which was followed by “That’s messed up” and “I’m not signing that” and of course when I’m angry I have a tendency to cry, which in turn made her cry. She told me I could talk to upper management and of course they didn’t know what to do because they’ve never had to deal with someone like me who is unwilling to sign their eval. They had to call their boss and eventually decided to give me a pay increase because they agreed that my eval was complete bullshit. After making the supervisor break down into tears along with me, I had the manager crying too. It was actually quite comical, especially from an outside perspective. Three people crying in an office at a place of business. Just goes to show you how fucked up retail really is.

Do you need money now but aren’t getting a paycheck for a few weeks? I’m sure there are a lot of people who don’t have access to a credit card and need extra cash now. If you happen to be one of those people why not think about getting a Payday Loan ? They have a very short application that requires very little personal information. You can also be approved for your loan in as little as an hour. What makes their services even greater is the fact that they don’t look at your past credit history to base on your loan approval. There’s not many places I’ve heard of that are that trusting. So, if you’re going through unexpected financial problems, and are sick of asking family and friends for a little financial help, I think you need to check out PaydayLoansMania.

One of my favorite dishes to eat is shrimp scampi. I’m not a huge fan of seafood but shrimp happens to be one of my weaknesses. There’s so many different and delicious variations you can do with shrimp scampi the possibilities are literally endless. Adding shrimp to pasta, is delicious too, especially with a light pesto and some luscious tomato chunks. Yum! Do you have any suggestions on how to make a delicious shrimp dish? I’d love to try out any interesting and delicious tips or recipes. Seafood fanatics will rejoice for the Great American Seafood Cook off. You’ve always heard of Barbecue cook offs, but this is an awesome new twist. Having a seafood cook off also seems to be a bit less redneck than a traditional pork and beef barbecue cook off. What makes this cook off extra special is the fact that the source is known and it’s local and fresh. No one likes old seafood that has been lying around in a freezer for days on end. We like it fresh. I’d participate in the cook off if I was a more seasoned cook. I’m still not at the peak of my cooking skills and usually don’t cook for anyone but my direct family. I usually have shrimp scampi with pasta once a week but would love to eat it every day if I could. I’m sure if they had a scampi pasta at the seafood cook off, it’d be a hit, especially if they added some garlic cheese biscuits with it. Yum, my stomach is growling just thinking about it. So, if you’re a seafood consieur, don’t miss out on this delicious opportunity to eat or participate in this unique cook off.

Ayden’s birthday was on Sunday the 27th and boy let me tell you, I never realized just how spoiled my little guy is. First off, my mother and I ordered him a custom sheet cake with a Backyardigans theme, that wound up costing $43, after the cake, I went and got him thirteen balloons for $11, Chad and I spent probably about $125 on Ayden’s presents and also took him to Chuck E Cheese’s. Ayden got $25 from one of his great grandmas, $125 from Chad’s dad, clothes, some puzzles, and a baby pc from Chad’s mom. But, that’s not all, he got another baby pc, some cute little gear toy, tons of clothes, a baby boom box, a bounce and spin zebra, and three DVDs from my mom and dad. We’re going to get him a portable DVD player for the car with the money he got since we take a lot of trips in the car on vacation. Man, he must have had over $500 spent on him. Little booger, I wish I could get that much sometimes! He had his first taste of cake and pizza too. It was cute to watch him devour the cake and make a complete mess. After he opened all his gifts and had cake, we took him to Chuck E Cheese’s with my mom and dad. He didn’t seem scared of the giant robot band and was happy to just walk around and stare at all the other kids playing games. Chad and I competed against my dad on pinball and ski ball. I made fun of Chad because he did the worst, surprisingly, my dad won on everything. I had no idea he’d be so good at arcade games. Ayden absolutely loved his pizza and ate a whole slice! He also learned how to drink out of a straw for the first time and now every time we go out to eat he can just sip off my straw. I’m thinking about getting him his own sippy cup with straw. Here’s some photos from his birthday.

On Monday, we took Ayden to the Erie Zoo in Pennsylvania. My mom and my niece Tricia went with us. Ayden was very well behaved and enjoyed looking at all the animals. I even got to pet a kangaroo and feed Lorikeets for the second time in my life. Petting the kangaroo was the highlight of my day. I also got to watch a polar bear take a massive dump in his swimming pool. It was hilarious. Unfortunately, I didn’t get a photo of myself petting a kangaroo, but I did get one of my niece.

The Lorikeets had a fascination with my earrings and hopped onto my shoulder to munch on them. It was rather startling but I enjoyed it. I also enjoyed the reaction from some obnoxious woman and her equally obnoxious daughter. Her daughter came by and stole the Lorikeet I was feeding and her mother said, “Oh, you’re going to steal her bird. Steal her bird honey.” I gave that lady a dirty look and prayed that a bird would crap square on her lip. My prayers were almost answered when one took a dump on top of her head. God I love animals. :biggrin

Have you ever found yourself drowning in a sea of debt? Unable to keep up with all your bills and lack of funds? Oh, I’m there. Having a child can put a huge financial burden on any couple. I knew that before I had my son, but never anticipated how much of an impact it would create on not only my financial situations but my life in general. Several months before my son was born, we moved into a less expensive apartment that was larger. We lucked out and managed to find an apartment that was literally a hop skip and a jump away from our old one. We initially lived in a small one bedroom overly priced apartment. It was our first place though, so it had sentimental value. Neither my fiance or I saved up a significant amount of money because we never planned on having a child till later on, but things happen for a reason. As I was saying, I stopped worked several months before the birth of my son and had to live off short term disability, which is a measly $160 a week. Who can live off that small amount of change is beyond me. Needless to say before my son was born, the bills started piling up and my saved up money from working full time dwindled down to nothing. I felt like I should start looking forDebt relief and started to feel that maybe I shouldn’t have bought my car a few years back, or maybe we should have been more frugal with our apartment and rented out in the less desirable part of town. It made me realize just how much I was taking my money for granted back then. I would literally not hesitate to buy anything I wanted. It was ridiculous. Now, I work about twenty hours a week, bring in less than half of what I used to before I had my son, but irregardless of the lack of money, I’m happier. Yes, I’m not as financially secure as I once was, but I managed to pay off my car this month and no longer have payments. That’s one less worry for me to stay awake with at night. The next challenge is buying a home. I’m saving up as much as I can and making sure I don’t have any more regrets about any big ticket purchases in the future. Debt consolidation is not something I want to consider doing in the future. I feel incredibly uncomfortable having debts even reaching the thousand dollar mark so I try and keep everything paid for. If you’re in a situation like myself or just need Debt help don’t sit back and contemplate about it. Just do it. The longer you wait, the more your debt will pile up and the more finance and interest charges you’re going to wind up paying. Damaging your credit score is definitely not something you want to do or you won’t be able to get all those nice things you want in the future, like a home or an awesome new car. Some jobs don’t even hire people with poor credit scores now. So, just remember that even if you feel completely lost and hopeless with Credit card debt or any sort of debt, sort it out right away. Debt is definitely not something anyone should just ignore.

Alzheimer’s is a terrible disease that afflicts as many as 5.2 million people living in the United States alone. It is also estimated that every 71 seconds someone will develop Alzheimer’s and 10 million baby boomers will develop Alzheimer’s in their lifetime. An even more sad and unnerving statistic is the fact that Alzheimer’s is the sixth leading cause of death in the United States. These numbers are staggering and help is needed to raise awareness of this horrible disease.

The Alzheimer’s Association is holding the Alzheimer’s Memory Walk 2008 which will help raise awareness and funds that will help research on this heart breaking disease. This two to three mile walk will be held in over 600 communities across the United States. All ages are welcome and encouraged to participate or volunteer for these events which are typically held on a weekend in the Fall. Participating in walks are a great way to show your support in finding a cure and is also a great way to meet people. You’ll also feel a sense or pride knowing you’ve helped raise funds for researching on this crippling disease. As sad as these statistics are, you can help to make a difference for future generations. We can beat Alzheimer’s together.

Sorry for the lack of posts lately, for some odd reason wordpress went wacky on me and wouldn’t let me blog. It managed to fix itself, so I’m not exactly sure what the problem was..? Anyways, I have some news on Jynx, I officially adopted her on the 18th so she’s been at home with Baby and Sadie. Unfortunately, Baby and Sadie aren’t showing any signs of warming up to her, especially Sadie. Sadie seems to have turned into an evil cat. She used to be so sweet and affectionate but now if I even smell like Jynx at all she tries to attack me and starts growling and hissing at me. I have Jynx separated from Sadie and Baby, she’s been living in my bedroom and bathroom. Jynx isn’t moving around at all. She seems to spend all day laying in the same spot. I’ve seen her eat several times so I know her appetite is fine, I’ve also had to clean her litter box several times so I know there’s nothing wrong with her bowels and urine but… she seems to be vomiting up stomach acid, or what looks like stomach acid. I’m not sure if all the stress is getting to her or what but she’s going to the vet tomorrow so hopefully they can clue me in a little better as to what may be wrong with her. I feel bad for her. She’s not even half the size of Baby or Sadie and she’s still skin and bones. She doesn’t even hiss or growl back at them when they’re being a bully to her. I hope she’s okay because her behavior is concerning me. :( Here’s the only two photos I’ve managed to take of Jynx, she doesn’t look very cute in them but crappy photos are better than none!

While on the subject of health issues, I stopped taking my birth control pills and had Mirena placed in me. Chad and I both decided that Mirena would be the best option right now in case we decided in the next five years if we want one more child. We keep debating the pros and cons of having another little one. The pain I felt while they inserted the Mirena was the second worst pain I’ve ever felt. The nurse explained that it feels similar to labor pains, but I never went into labor with Ayden so I had no idea what that felt like. Needless to say, I left the doctors office dizzy and crying from pain. I know in the long run though, an IUD was a better choice than continuing on with birth control pills. I gained sooooo much weight on BC pills and I’ve been on them so long I figured I better find another alternative so Mirena was the perfect solution. Now if only those horrible cramps would go away, I would be a much happier mommy… angryghost
